20K+ ACRES CONSERVED | JACKSON COUNTY

North Park is a spectacular high mountain valley tucked against the Wyoming border in northwest Colorado. The basin is known for exquisite mountain views and long, tough winters. Irrigated hay meadows and rolling sagebrush hills form the foreground for unparalleled views of the surrounding Medicine Bow, Never Summer, Parkview and Park Ranges that ring North Park. This unique place supports sustainable ranch operations which have existed in the area since the land was homesteaded over a century ago.

The North Park Ranchland Conservation Initiative, led by the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust (CCALT), represents an exciting opportunity to conserve the integrity and intactness of this high mountain valley. Since 2007, CCALT has partnered with several ranching families to conserve over 20,000 acres of working, productive ranchland in North Park. As Colorado’s population grows, it will become increasingly important to invest in the conservation of special places like North Park. It is ranchlands like these that define the unique natural treasures of Colorado.

The conservation work accomplished to date would not have been possible without funding from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), the NRCS Farm and Ranch Land Protection Program, the North American Wetlands Conservation Act, Ducks Unlimited (DU) and the Gates Family Foundation.

“North Park is exceptional with its distinctive and irreplaceable working landscape. Following the lead of the local ranchers, there is a great opportunity to preserve the agricultural productivity and heritage of Jackson County.” – Bill Fales, CCALT Board President
